Wolverhampton – About the Service:

This home offers young children the chance to work and play in groups and teams, appropriately supervised by adults where the need is required, thus allowing them to understand the importance of boundaries, structure and negotiation.

  • Mixed 2-bed service (Occupancy currently 2)

Job Description

As a Team Leader, you will be required to lead, supervise and motivate the care team within the house, whilst also completing hands-on role to ensure the highest quality care and support to the children.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise the staff on shift to ensure that they always carry out their duties and behave appropriately
  • Undertake agreed, delegated management responsibilities on an ongoing basis
  • Oversee and ensure all staff are effectively managing complex and challenging behaviour
  • Support and supervise children with daily tasks and skills, ensuring that all the relevant personal, pathway plans are in place, accurate and up to date
  • Administer medication in accordance with the standards set by the Regulatory body
  • Work with the team and managers to ensure that referrals and applications are made as and when necessary
  • Undertake agreed delegated management responsibilities on an ongoing basis, in support of the Line Manager
  • Report issues and/or incidents relating to staff and Service Users that have arisen in the day promptly to the Line Manager or appropriate person

Person Specification

  • Must hold Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 months experience within a children’s residential setting
  • Experience of working with young people with autistic spectrum disorders and/or challenging behaviour
  • Ability to motivate a team and individuals
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Effective Leadership Skills
  • Driving licence
